Providence Journal
Mark Patinkin has been a Providence Journal columnist for over four decades, his work bringing personal perspective to a range of topics. In the same week, you might find him doing a ride-alone with Providence police and a piece on the challenges of a mom in assisted living. The Journal has sent him as a columnist to write about African famine, the collapse of European communism and war in the Middle East. But his day-to-day focus is on the joys and quirks of life in Rhode Island. His last book, “Up and Running,” was a nonfiction narrative about a Providence boy who lost two legs but went on to play ice hockey. Mark was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for International Correspondence, and in 2019, was named “Columnist of the Year” for Gatehouse Media, now Gannett.
